WORKING ARTIST STATEMENT:

My work investigates the relationship between our unconscious and our desires, the façade we wear and what lies underneath the surface. New experiences can seduce and stifle, excite and torment. Similarly unpredictable and foreboding natural phenomena such as sinkholes exist below the surface. A false stability, we feel susceptible once the surface weakens and holds the potential to consume anything and everything in its path. They can lead to complex underground tunnels, to past civilizations and others can go so deep it is difficult to comprehend. As something unknown, we are fascinated by it and can take pleasure in imagining what it leads to and at the same time be wary of its potential danger.
